Kosta Boda
Kappa Vase 16 cm
Kappa is mouth-blown in shape and is named after the "bubble" that overflows the edge of the mold during manufacturing. Kappa by Mimmi Blomqvist combines sustainable accuracy and contemporary design. The vase is made of circular glass from Kosta Glasbruk. Variations in color, as well as small bubbles, are formed during the process when recycled glass is transformed into new objects, making each vase individual and unique. The different pigments in the shards give shades of blue and gray.
“On my first course at Konstfack, we would blow glass in moulds. I was going to make a drinking glass, but instead of cutting the coat (kappa), I decided to keep it. It was beautiful, lovely and friendly. In addition, it created a contrast to the strict. I further developed the idea with an oversized cut shape. Working with circular raw materials is a matter of course today. Therefore, the vase is produced with recycled glass from the mill. The result is a contemporary design object with which I intended to make an impression in the time that prevails. ” - Mimmi Blomqvist
Due to the fact that the vase is made with recycled glass from Kosta the colour of the individual vases can differ. Some are more blue, some are more grey and some have slight green hue. Every vase can become unique in its own and that's one of the most awesome things. WE LOVE THIS VASE!
